## Programmes for media sustainability support in Lebanon
### Media Development Assistance Coordination Meeting

### **Aim**
The overall aim of the joint coordination is to map and share information between journalism support and media development actors around their plans for media development and recovery activities and efforts in Lebanon.
The focus of this, third coordination meeting is to gather donors, and media and journalism support organisations to discuss the donor practices around:
* How donors design their calls for proposals
* How donors learn about efforts of other funders when issuing calls for proposals and how they work to avoid of duplication and overlap
* What would be best practices in two items above from the perspective of beneficiaries and from the perspective of donors?
### **Previous activities**
**Coordination meetings:**
[**The first meeting**](https://coordination.gfmd.info/lebanon-meeting-reports/october-2020) was held on October 26th 2020 gathering over 35 media development actors with experience of working in Lebanon and implementing recovery assistance programs in the explosion aftermath.
[**The second meeting**](https://coordination.gfmd.info/lebanon-meeting-reports/march-2021) gathered 41 representatives of media development and journalism support organisations, media development actors and Lebanese media organisations to discuss the challenges of achieving sustainability of media and media support organisations in Lebanon. GFMD also [**conducted a snapshot research on media sustainability**](https://coordination.gfmd.info/resources/research-sustainability-journalism-support) as introduction and for the facilitation of discussions.
**Mapping:** To support ongoing coordination GFMD compiled [**a spreadsheet** ](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gKB3uxHaeyJLu27lgVDhrNwtfDt-2DX2sijVkV9GmTg/edit#gid=0)that lists the organisations invited to participate in the information-sharing initiative, which provides a background for each organisation, an overview of their projects in the MENA region, and outlines their Lebanon recovery efforts.To access the information sheet mapping media assistance in Lebanon click on the link below and request access.
